Notice of Intention to Adopt, and of Proposed Modifications to the Mid-Glamorgan Minerals Local Plan for Limestone Quarrying (as affecting Merthyr Tydfil County Borough). The Public Local Inquiry into the Mid-Glamorgan Minerals Local Plan for Limestone Quarrying has been held and the report of the Planning Inspector has been considered by the Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council which now proposes to modify the plan where it applies to Merthyr Tydfil. The Council is publishing a Modifications Statement which includes a list of all proposed modifications together with the Council’s reasons for proposing those modifications. In addition, a list of the Inspector’s recommendations which the Council does not intend to accept is also included within the modifications statement. Copies of the deposited modifications statement together with the Inspector’s Report are available for inspection at the following locations, free of charge, during normal office hours: The Planning Department, Ty Keir Hardie, Riverside Court, Merthyr Tydfil; Merthyr Tydfil Central Library, High Street, Merthyr Tydfil; Dowlais Library, Upper Union Street, Dowlais; Treharris Library, Perrot Street, Treharris. Objections to and representations in respect of the proposed modifications should be sent in writing to reach the Planning Manager at the address below no later than the end of the 6 week representation period 12th June to 23rd July 1998: M. Objections and representations should specify the matters to which they relate and the grounds on which they are made and may be accompanied by a request to be notified at a specific address of the withdrawal, adoption, approval or rejection of the proposals. All objections and representations will be made available for public inspection and cannot be treated as confidential. At this stage, objections cannot relate to the content of the original plan but can relate only to a proposed modification or the fact that the Council has not proposed a modification recommended by the Inspector. If no objections are received during the period given for making objections, the Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council intend to adopt the Minerals Local Plan on the expiry of that period. Copies of the modifications statement are also available from the Planning Department at Ty Keir Hardie, Riverside Court, Merthyr Tydfil, or by mail order at a cost of £5 inclusive of post and packing. Cheques should be made payable to the Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council.
