Notice of application to vary a licence to abstract water

Notice is hereby given that an application is being made to the Environment Agency by Severn Trent Water Limited, of 2997 Coventry Road, Birmingham B26 3PU, to vary a licence (3/28/75/54) to abstract, for public water supply purposes, as specified, to increase the permitted abstraction from 11,363,636 cubic metres per day to 14,000 cubic metres per day from two boreholes, in the Sherwood Sandstone, at Chequer House, near Ranby, Nottinghamshire, at SK 6480 8143 and SK 6481 8121, and to remove reference to a third borehole at SK 6465 8150.   There will be no change to the permitted annual quantity of 4,159,090,909 cubic metres, which is equivalent to an average of 11,363,636 cubic metres per day.   Chequer House is part of a group of sources supplying water into the Worksop and north Nottinghamshire area. The variation is being sought to allow for meeting peak demands, whilst operating these sources as efficiently as possible.   A copy of the application and of any maps, plans or other documents submitted with it may be inspected, free of charge, at the offices of Severn Trent Water Ltd., at Manton Sewage Treatment Works, Rayton Lane, Worksop, Nottinghamshire, and at 2297 Coventry Road, Birmingham, during the period beginning on 21st September 1998 and ending on 21st October 1998.   Please note that this is a re-advertisement.   Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so in writing to the Area Water Resources and Flood Defence Manager, Environment Agency, Lower Trent Area, Trentside Offices, Scarrington Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham HG2 5FA, before the end of the said period.
