Proposed Direction under Regulation 7 in respect of Advertisements within Class 3A of Schedule 3

On 29th June 1998, representations were made by Westminster City Council to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, requesting him to direct that the provisions of Class 3A of Schedule 3 to the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) Regulations 1992, shall not apply to the display of advertisements relating to the sale or letting of premises or land in eight specified parts of two designated Conservation Areas:   1. The two parts of land appended to the Westbourne Conservation Area as a result of the extension of this Conservation Area on 5th March 1998;   2. The six parts of land appended to the Maida Vale Conservation Area as a result of the extension of this Conservation Area on 25th July 1996.   The effect of the Direction would be that the display of advertisements relating to the sale or letting of premises or land in this area could not be undertaken unless express consent had first been obtained from the Council.   A copy of the proposed Direction and a copy of the maps defining the area to which the Direction would relate, may be inspected, without payment, at the following locations: One Stop Services, Westminster City Hall, 64 Victoria Street, London S.W.1, (between 8.30 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday to Friday and between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday); One Stop Services, Westminster City Council, 91-93 Church Street, London N.W.8 (between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday to Friday and 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday); One Stop Services, Westminster City Council, 331 Harrow Road, London W.1 (between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday to Friday).   Any objections to the making of this Direction in respect of any part of the specified area should be made in writing to the Secretary of State at the following address: Laurence King, The Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions, PD3C, 4/J5, Eland House, Bressenden Place, London SW1E 5DU.   The period for making objections is limited to 28 days following the date of publication of this notice.
