NOTICE OF DESIGNATION OF CONSERVATION AREA

UPPER TEAN, STAFFORDSHIRE

Notice is hereby given that Staffordshire Moorlands District Council as local planning authority has by way of a resolution dated 19th September 1998 designated an area in Upper Tean, Staffordshire more particularly described below and shown on a map defining the area to which the designation relates as a Conservation Area being of special architectural or historic interest the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance under section 69 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990. The Effects of Designation are: In the exercise, with respect to any buildings or land in a Conservation Area, of its duties, special attention shall be paid to the desirability of preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of that area. Additional controls are placed over properties in that area including controls over minor extensions, alterations, advertisements and most works involving total demolition require Conservation Area Consent. Anyone proposing to carry out work affecting trees in a Conservation Area must give 6 weeks notice to the local planning authority. Additionally, it shall be a duty for the Local Planning Authority to formulate and publish proposals for the preservation and enhancement of the area.
