NOTICE OF AN APPLICATION FOR THE CONFIRMATION OF AN ORDER SUSPENDING A PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY
RHYDYCAR WEST RIGHTS OF WAY APPLICATION 1998 (REVISED)

The Coal Authority has made an Order under section 15 of the Opencast Coal Act 1958 that will suspend the non-vehicular right of way described below in connection with the working of coal by opencast operations and has submitted the Order to the Secretary of State for Wales for confirmation. An alternative way for use by the public during the period for which the Order will be in force will be made available as described in the Schedule below. An application for planning permission for the opencast working of coal at the site was submitted to Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council on 18th February 1998. A copy of the Order and of a map showing the rights of way can be inspected at the following locations during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays from 1st March 1999 and 2nd April 1999: Celtic Energy Limited’s Office, Heol Ty Aberaman, Aberaman, Aberdare CF44 6LX; The Chief Executive’s Office, Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council, Civic Centre, Merthyr Tydfil CF47. Objections to the confirmation of the Order may be made in writing to the Secretary of State for Wales, Crown Buildings, Cathays Park, Cardiff CF1 3NQ, before 6th April 1999. K. G. Leighfield, Director of Licensing, The Coal Authority Schedule Existing Rights of Way to be Suspended That part of the claimed bridle-way in the community of Troed-y-rhiw, in the County Borough of Merthyr Tydfil which extends to a length of 760 metres in a north-north-westerly direction from a point on the disused railway line (Grid Ref. SO 0485 0439), approximately 270 metres west-south west of Pitwood House, to a point on the Parish Road (Grid Ref. SO 0460 0510), approximately 550 metres south-west of the Rhydycar Leisure Centre. Alternative Way to be Created Alternative Way No. 1 (1998) which commences from a point on the formation of the disused railway line (Grid Ref. SO 0485 0439), approximately 370 metres west-south-west of Pitwood House and extends for a distance of 100 metres in a north-easterly direction to a point on a track (Grid Ref. SO 0492 0445), approximately 170 metres west of Pitwood House. 22nd February 1999.
