NOTICE OF PROPOSED AGREEMENT BY COUNCIL WITH OWNERS OF LAND FOR THE ADJUSTMENT OF THE BOUNDARIES OF THE UPPER GROUND/BELVEDERE ROAD, LONDON SE1, ADJACENT TO ROYAL NATIONAL THEATRE

Notice is given, in accordance with the provisions of the Highways Act 1980, section 256, that for the purpose of straightening or otherwise adjusting the boundaries of the highway maintainable at the public expense and running from the entrance of the slip road leading to the car park to the edge of the building line of the National Theatre in Upper Ground, in the London Borough of Lambeth, the Council proposes as the highway authority for the highway to enter into an agreement with Arts Council of England, of 14 Great Peter Street, London SW1P 3NQ (“the first owner”) and Royal National Theatre Board of South Bank, London SE1 0PX (“the second owner”) of the land adjoining or lying near to the highway. The particulars of the proposed agreement are as follows: 1. There shall be conveyed by the First and Second Owner to the Council an area of land of approximately 500 square metres fronting the highway from the entrance of the slip road leading to the car park to the entrance of the car park of the National Theatre. 2. There shall be conveyed by the Council to the First and Second Owner an area of land of approximately equal area of 500 square metres within the boundaries of the highway from the entrance of the car park to the edge of the building line of the National Theatre. Any person who objects to the proposed agreement may appeal to the magistrates’ court sitting at Camberwell Green, 15 D’Eynsford Road, London SE5, before the expiration of two months from the date of the publication of this notice. Any person claiming an estate or interest in, or right over, or charge on, the land to be conveyed by the Council to the Owner may claim compensation under the Highways Act 1980, section 256(5). A plan of the proposed adjustment of boundaries of the highway showing the land to be conveyed will be open for inspection, free of charge, at the Council Offices at Infrastructure Business Unit, The London Borough of Lambeth, Room 26, Lambeth Town Hall, Brixton Hill, London SW2, from Monday to Friday between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. Borough Solicitor, Lambeth Town Hall, Brixton Hill, London SW2 1RW. 25th June 1999.
