CAMBRIDGESHIRE GUIDED BUSWAY ORDER
NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR AN ORDER

Cambridgeshire County Council, whose address is Shire Hall, Castle Hill, Cambridge CB3 0AP, is applying to the Secretary of State for Transport under section 6 of the Transport and Works Act 1992 for the above-mentioned Order under section 1 and 3 of that Act. The draft Order makes provision for the construction, maintenance and operation of a guided busway between St Ives and Cambridge city centre (Chesterton Sidings), with provision for a spur to Arbury Park (Histon Road) and a guided busway between Cambridge Railway Station and Trumpington, with provision for a spur to Addenbrooke’s Hospital. It includes in particular provision for the construction of the guided busways together with associated and consequential works including control and maintenance facilities at St Ives, busway stops, maintenance and emergency access tracks alongside the guided busways, park and ride sites at St Ives and Longstanton parking, interchange facilities, highway and bridge alterations and improvements, the stoppage or diversion of existing rights of way and the creation of new rights of way, alterations to street furniture, to apparatus of utilities and to watercourses, landscaping and ancillary works. The Order would also confer a number of general powers in relation to the proposed guided busways and associated works including provision for the compulsory purchase of land and rights in land, the survey and investigation of land, the discharge of water and the temporary closure of part of the river Great Ouse and general powers for the operation, regulation and maintenance of the guided busways and as respects traffic upon them, including powers in relation to bus services, as respects traffic signs, as respects obstruction and trespass, for the lopping of overhanging trees, for the making of byelaws, as to police services and for the disposal of, and operating agreements in relation to, the proposed works. Any objections to, or other representations about, the proposals in the application should be sent to the Secretary of State for Transport, Department for Transport, TWA Orders Unit, Zone 3/11, Great Minster House, 76 Marsham Street, London SW1P 4DR on or before 2 April 2004. An objection or representation MUST (i) be received by the Secretary of State on or before 2 April 2004, (ii) be made in writing, (iii) state the grounds of objection or representation, and (iv) indicate who is making the objection or representation, and (v) give an address to which correspondence relating to the objection or representation may be sent. The Secretary of State may make objections and other representations public and will copy them to the applicant for the order.
