PROPOSED DOCKLANDS LIGHT RAILWAY (CAPACITY ENHANCEMENT) ORDER
NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR AN ORDER

Docklands Light Railway Limited, PO Box 154, Castor Lane, Poplar, London E14 0DX has applied to the Secretary of State for Transport under section 6 of the Transport and Works Act 1992, for an Order under sections 1 and 3 of that Act. The draft Order makes provision for works to upgrade the Docklands Light Railway network between Tower Gateway station on the west of the railway network and Lewisham station on the south of the network, to accommodate three car trains for the purpose of increasing the capacity and improving the efficiency of the network. The works will include, platform extensions with new or extended station canopies at Tower Gateway, Shadwell, Limehouse, Westferry, Poplar, West India Quay, Crossharbour, Mudchute, Greenwich, Deptford Bridge, Elverson Road and Lewisham stations, track modifications to accommodate longer trains at Tower Gateway, Shadwell, Poplar and Mudchute stations, the construction of a new station at South Quay, strengthening viaducts and other structures along the network including in particular, the viaducts at Tower Hill, Cable Street, Shadwell Station, Stepney East, Limehouse, North Quay Delta Junction, Delta Tie-in, South Quay and Millwall Cut and the bridges at the Limehouse Link and the Docklands Northern Relief Road, the expansion, incorporating the provision of new stabling facilities, of Becton Depot, the upgrading of the electrical power systems and the construction of new electrical sub-stations. The Order would also authorise powers for the permanent or temporary acquisition of land or of interests therein; the diversion of streets and footpaths; the execution of street works; the permanent or temporary stopping-up of streets; the construction and maintenance of new or altered streets; the temporary closure of inland waterways at Canary Wharf; the construction or reconstruction of bridges and the construction of ancillary works at various locations; the discharge of water into watercourses, public sewers and drains; the survey and investigation of land; and other incidental, supplemental or consequential powers in relation to the works. Any objections to, or other representations about, the proposals in the application should be sent to the Secretary of State for Transport, c/o Department for Transport, TWA Orders Unit, Zone 9/09, Southside, 105 Victoria Street, London SW1E 6DT on or before 11 August 2004. An objection or representation MUST (i) be received by the Secretary of State on or before 11 August 2004, (ii) be made in writing, (iii) state the grounds of the objection or representation and (iv) indicate who is making the objection or representation, and (v) give an address to which correspondence relating to the objection or representation may be sent.
