TRANSPORT AND WORKS ACT 1992

The Secretary of State for Transport gives notice pursuant to section 14(1)(b) of the Transport and Works Act 1992, (“the Act”) that he has determined under section 13(1) of the Act to make, with modifications, the Preston Dock Railway Order 2004 (“the Order”). The Order was applied for by Steamport Southport Limited, 3 Lincoln Drive, Old Roan, Liverpool L10 3LJ. The Order will authorise the transfer to Steamport Southport Limited of two lengths of railway totalling approximately 2.9kms and forming part of the Preston Dock railway system. The Order will also make other non-works provisions, including the transfer of the powers to operate and use the railway for the carriage of passengers and goods. The Secretary of State considers that the reopening of this part of the dock railway system will bring economic and environmental benefits to the area. He has therefore concluded that it is in the public interest to make the Order. Copies of the letter setting out the full terms of the Secretary of State’s decision may be obtained from the Transport and Works Act Orders Unit, Department for Transport, 9th Floor, Southside, 105 Victoria Street, London SW1E 6DT. Copies of the Order (once made) may be obtained from the Stationery Office Limited or through booksellers. E Harvey, Head of the Transport and Works Act Orders Unit, Department for Transport Southside, 105 Victoria Street, London SW1E 6DT.
