BOROUGH OF POOLE (POOLE HARBOUR OPENING BRIDGES) ORDER
NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR AN ORDER

The Council of the Borough and County of the Town of Poole, Civic Centre, Poole, Dorset BH15 2RU, has applied to the Secretary of State for Transport under section 6 of the Transport and Works Act 1992, for an Order under section 3 of that Act. The Order would authorise works for the construction of an opening (bascule) bridge across the Back Water Channel in Poole Harbour, the dredging of part of the Back Water Channel for the purposes of constructing the bridge, the relocation of permanent moorings within the Back Water Channel and the provision of new temporary mooring facilities between the existing opening (bascule) bridge and the proposed new opening (bascule) bridge. The Order would also provide for the protection of Poole Harbour Commissioners and users of the Back Water Channel. The Order would also authorise powers for the permanent or temporary acquisition of land or of interests therein; the diversion of streets and footpaths; the execution of street works; the permanent or temporary stopping-up of streets; the construction and maintenance of new or altered streets; the temporary closure of part of the Back Water Channel; the construction of ancillary works; the discharge of water into watercourses, public sewers and drains; the survey and investigation of land; and other incidental, supplemental or consequential powers in relation to the works; including powers to make byelaws and to facilitate safe navigation through the Back Water Channel. Any objections to, or other representations about, the proposals in the application should be sent to the Secretary of State for Transport, c/o Department for Transport, TWA Orders Unit, Zone 9/09, Southside, 105 Victoria Street, London SW1E 6DT, on or before 18 January 2005. An objection or representation MUST (i) be received by the Secretary of State on or before 18 January 2005, (ii) be made in writing, (iii) state the grounds of the objection or representation and (iv) indicate who is making the objection or representation, and (v) give an address to which correspondence relating to the objection or representation may be sent. The Secretary of State may make objections or representations public and will copy them to the applicant for the Order.
