NOTICE OF PROPOSED COAST PROTECTION WORK

Tendring District Council, acting in their capacity as coast protection authority, hereby gives notice under section 5(1) of the above Act that they propose, subject to finance being available, to carry out coast protection works at Walton on the Naze, Essex. The proposal is to construct a new seawall below Cliff Parade, Walton on the Naze, Essex, and will consist of the following works: The construction of a new seawall using porous pre-cast concrete blocks placed on a sloping rock bed over a frontage of 530m. A new promenade with parapet. The estimated cost of the work is £3,500,000. Details of the work proposed and a copy of the Essex Shoreline Management Plan can be inspected at the Town Hall, Station Road, Clacton on Sea, Essex, between the hours of 9.00 am to 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm, Monday to Thursday 9.00 am to 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm to 4.45 pm on Friday. Please ask for Technical and Procurement Services. Any person may, no later than 4 August 2006, serve notice of objection to the proposal on the Secretary of State and on the Council. Any such notice must contain a statement of the grounds of objection and must be delivered or sent by post, fax or e-mail to the Secretary of State and to the Chief Executive of the Council.
