Nottingham City Council of The Guildhall, Nottingham NG1 4BT is applying to the Secretary of State for Transport under section 6 of the Transport and Works Act 1992 for the above-mentioned Order to be made under sections 1 and 5 of that Act.

The proposed Order, if made, would amend the Nottingham Express Transit System Order 2009 (S.I. 2009 No.1300, referred to below as “the 2009 Order”) so as to enable the promoter referred to in the 2009 Order, which is expected to be Nottingham City Council, to acquire compulsorily certain land from The Nottinghamshire County Council that is required for the extension of the existing tram system authorised by the 2009 Order, and to provide for the vesting of certain replacement land (authorised to be acquired compulsorily under the 2009 Order) in the County Council rather than in Broxtowe Borough Council.

The application is not to be made subject to an environmental impact assessment.

Any objections to, or other representations about the proposals in the application for the proposed Order should be sent to the Secretary of State for Transport, Department for Transport, c/o TWA Orders Unit, Zone 1/31, Great Minster House, 76 Marsham Street, London SW1P 4DR (email: transportandworksact@dft.gsi.gov.uk) on or before Monday, 13 September 2010.

Any objection, or other representation MUST (i) be received by the Secretary of State on or before Monday, 13 September 2010, (ii) be made in writing (whether sent by post or email), (iii) state the grounds of the objection or other representation, (iv) indicate who is making the objection or other representation, and (v) give an address to which correspondence relating to the objection or other representation may be sent. (If you are sending your objection or other representation by e-mail, please provide a postal address).

The Secretary of State may make complete copies of any objections and other representations public, including any personal information in them, and will copy them to Nottingham City Council as the applicant for the Order.

All requests for further information, or respecting notices or other documents relating to the application, should be addressed to the undersigned.
