THE TRANSPORT FOR GREATER MANCHESTER (LIGHT RAPID TRANSIT SYSTEM) (OLDHAM, MUMPS MODIFICATION) ORDER
NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR AN ORDER
Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) of 2 Piccadilly Place, Manchester M1 3BG has applied to the Secretary of State for Transport under section 6 of the Transport and Works Act 1992 for the above-mentioned Order to be made under sections 1 and 5 of that Act.
The proposed Order, if made, would make further provision for tram lines at Mumps in Oldham. In particular, it would authorise (a) the continuation, maintenance and operation of a tramroad approximately 130 metres in length being a deviation of a tramroad previously authorised to operate on the former Middleton to Shaw railway, (b) a deviation in the construction of a street tramway authorised by the Greater Manchester (Light Rapid Transit System) (Mumps Surface Crossing) Order 2001, and (c) the application to the tram lines at Mumps of existing operational provisions applicable to TfGM’s transit system.
The Secretary of State has determined that the application is not to be made subject to an environmental impact assessment.
Any objections to, or other representations about, the proposals in the application should be sent to the Secretary of State for Transport, c/o Transport and Works Act Orders Unit, General Counsel’s Office, Department for Transport, Zone 1/18, Great Minster House, 33 Horseferry Road, London SW1P 4DR, (e-mail:transportandworksact@dft.gsi.gov.uk) on or before 23 January 2012.
An objection or representation MUST (i) be received by the Secretary of State on or before 23 January 2012, (ii) be made in writing (whether sent by post or e-mail), (iii) state the grounds of the objection or representation, (iv) indicate who is making the objection or representation, and (v) give an address to which correspondence relating to the objection or representation may be sent. (If you are sending your objection or other representation by e-mail, please provide a postal address).
The Secretary of State may make complete copies of the objections and other representations public, including any personal information in them, and will copy them to TfGM as the applicant for the Order.
