ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

THE A5 AND A38 TRUNK ROADS (WEEFORD ROUNDABOUT, STAFFORDSHIRE) (DERESTRICTION) ORDER 20XX

The Secretary of State for Transport hereby gives notice that he intends to make an Order under section 82(2) and 83(1) of, and paragraph 27(1) of Schedule 9 to, the Legislation: Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on the A5 and A38 Trunk Roads near Weeford in the County of Staffordshire.

The effect of the order would be to maintain the national speed limit on—

  • 1 the circulatory carriageway at the roundabout junction of the A38, A5 and the slip roads leading to and from the M6 Toll, known as Weeford roundabout;
  • 2 a length of the slip road leading to the northbound carriageway of the A38 from Weeford Roundabout, from its junction with Weeford Roundabout to a point 133 metres north of that roundabout;
  • 3 a length of the slip road leading from the southbound carriageway of the A38 to Weeford Roundabout, from a point 134 metres north of its junction with Weeford Roundabout to that roundabout;
  • 4 a length of the A5Trunk Road from its junction with Weeford Roundabout to a point 148.5 metres northwest of that roundabout; and
  • 5 a length of the A5Trunk Road from its junction with Weeford Roundabout to a point 127.5 metres southeast of that roundabout;

which would otherwise be subject to a speed limit of 30 miles per hour as a result of the street lighting installed on those lengths.

A copy of the draft Order, together with plans illustrating the proposals and a Statement of the Secretary of State’s reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be inspected during opening hours at Lichfield District Council, Council House, Frog Lane, Lichfield, WS13 6YY ; or Lichfield Library, The Friary, Lichfield, WS13 6QG ; or may be seen at or obtained by application to the Highways Agency, The Cube, 199 Wharfside Street, Birmingham, B1 1RN .

Any person wishing to object to the proposed Order should send a written statement of their objection and the grounds thereof to Karen Eustace at the Highways Agency at the address given above. The objection should quote reference HA 28/8/118 and must be received no later than 5 January 2012 .
