TRITON KNOLL ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ORDER

NOTICE PUBLICISING A PROPOSED APPLICATION FOR A DEVELOPMENT CONSENT ORDER (“DCO”)

Notice is hereby given that Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm Limited (the “Applicant”) of Auckland House, Lydiard Fields, Great Western Way, Swindon SN5 8ZT proposes to apply to the Secretary of State under section 37 of The Planning Act 2008 (the “Act”) for the above-mentioned development consent order (the “Application”).

The Application relates to the construction of the offshore and onshore electrical system works required for the consented Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm located on the bed of the North Sea approximately 33 kilometres off the coast of Lincolnshire and 46 kilometres off the coast of North Norfolk. Following a direction from the Secretary of State under section 35 of the Act that the electrical system works should be treated as development for which development consent is required consent will be sought for the works described below, the onshore element of which will be located within the County of Lincolnshire, District of East Lindsey and Borough of Boston.

The proposed DCO will, amongst other things, authorise:

  • 1 The construction of up to six circuits of offshore buried electrical cables including secondary cable protection and pipeline crossings; up to six buried cable transition joint bays located at Anderby Creek where the offshore cables will join the onshore cables; up to six circuits of onshore underground cables from the landfall to the Triton Knoll substation; an Intermediate Electrical Compound (“IEC”) for the compensation of reactive power located near Orby; a new Triton Knoll onshore electricity substation (‘Substation”) located at Bicker Fen; up to four circuits of additional onshore underground cables to connect the Substation to the existing National Grid substation; connection works at the National Grid substation; new private accesses, land raising, landscaping and drainage at the IEC and Triton Knoll substation; and temporary construction works including accesses from the public highway to the development site, temporary work areas and other associated works.
  • 2 Temporary stopping up of roads and footpaths to facilitate the development of the onshore works described above.
  • 3 The permanent compulsory acquisition of land and /or rights for the Project, including rights to access land for surveys.
  • 4 The application and/or disapplication of legislation relevant to the Project including legislation relating to compulsory acquisition and land drainage consents.
  • 5 Such ancillary, incidental and consequential provisions, permits or consents as are necessary and/or convenient.

The Project is an Environmental Impact Assessment development. Accordingly, the Applicant will be making preliminary environmental information (PEI) available. The documents, plans and maps showing the nature and location of the proposed development, including the PEI and Non-Technical Summary which include details of the proposals, may be inspected free of charge at the following locations and during the hours set out below:

The documents will be on display at the above locations from 15 October until 19 November 2014 . A reasonable copying charge may be made by these outlets for the reproduction of any of the documents. The documents will be available free of charge from 15 October 2014 at www.rweinnogy.com/tritonknoll which also has other information on the project. Alternatively, the consultation documents including the PEI can be purchased for £500 in hard copy or free of charge for a CD from the address below, by writing with a cheque made out to RWE Innogy UK. The Non-Technical Summary is available free of charge.
