BY THE QUEEN A PROCLAMATION ALTERING THE PROCLAMATION OF THE EIGHTH DAY OF OCTOBER 2014 TO DETERMINE A NEW EDGE CONFIGURATION FOR THE FIVE POUND COINS COMMEMORATING THE FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DEATH OF SIR WINSTON CHURCHILL ELIZABETH R.

Whereas under section 3(1)(b) and (h) of the Coinage Act 1971 We have power, with the advice of Our Privy Council, by Proclamation to determine the design of coins to be made at Our Mint, and to alter any Proclamation previously made under the said section:

And Whereas by Our Proclamation dated the eighth day of October 2014 We determined, among other matters, the design of the five pound coins in platinum, gold, silver and cupro-nickel:

And Whereas it appears to Us desirable to determine new designs for the said coins:

We, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 3(1)(b) and (h) and of all other powers enabling Us in that behalf, do hereby, by and with the advice of Our Privy Council, proclaim, direct and ordain as follows:

1. In paragraph 6 of Our said Proclamation of the eighth day of October 2014, the design shall be as follows:

‘For the obverse impression Our effigy with the inscription “ELIZABETH · II D · G · REG · F · D FIVE POUNDS · 2015 ”, and for the reverse a portrait of Winston Churchill with the inscription “CHURCHILL”. The coins will have a grained edge, except for the platinum, gold and silver coin which will have a plain edge and in incuse letters the inscription “NEVER FLINCH, NEVER WEARY, NEVER DESPAIR”.’

2. This Proclamation shall come into force on the twelfth day of February Two thousand and fifteen.

Given at Our Court at Buckingham Palace, this eleventh day of February in the year of Our Lord Two thousand and fifteen and in the sixty-fourth year of Our Reign.
