SALMON AND FRESHWATER FISHERIES ACT 1975 AS AMENDED

LIMITATION OF NETTING LICENCES FOR THE RIVER’S DART AND TEIGN.

Notice is hereby given that it is the intention of Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to confirm two Orders made by the Environment Agency under section 26 of the above Act. The Orders will:

—limit the number of new licences to be allocated in any year for fishing for salmon and migratory trout with Draft Nets in the River Dart Estuary to zero. This Order will give preference to applicants who have held a licence to use such a net in the specified areas of the River Dart estuary during the preceding two years.

—limit the number of new licences to be allocated in any year for fishing for salmon and migratory trout with Draft Nets in the River Teign Estuary to three. This Order will give preference to applicants who have held a licence to use such a net in the specified areas of the River Teign estuary during the preceding year.

A copy of the Orders may be obtained, free of charge, on application to the Environment Agency undersigned.

Any objection to the confirmation of these Order’s should be made in writing and addressed to Mr James Towns, Migratory and Freshwater Fisheries and Sea Angling, Sustainable Fisheries, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Area 8A, 9 Millbank, c/o Nobel House, 17 Smith Square, London. SW1P 3JR or, alternatively, via e-mail to freshwater.fish@defra.gsi.gov.uk not later than 23 November 2015.

At the end of the consultation period copies of the responses may be made public. The information contained may also be published in a summary of responses. If you do not consent to this, you must clearly request that your response be treated confidentially. Any confidentiality disclaimer generated by your IT system in e-mail responses will not be treated as such a request. You should also be aware that there may be circumstances in which the Defra will be required to communicate information to third parties on request, in order to comply with its obligations under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations.
