JANICE, JAMES & AFFLECK DECOMMISSIONING PROJECT
Maersk Oil UK Limited has submitted, for the consideration of the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, six draft Decommissioning Programmes, two for the Janice and James offshore installations and four covering the Janice, James and Affleck pipelines, in accordance with the provisions of the Petroleum Act 1998. It is a requirement of the Act that interested parties be consulted on decommissioning proposals.
The Janice ‘A’ FPU is located approximately 278km (172 miles) east-southeast of Aberdeen in block 30/17a. It is connected to three subsea well clusters producing from the Janice and James fields in block 30/17a and Affleck field located in block 30/19a, and has been continuously on location since it was installed. The items/facilities covered by the six Decommissioning Programmes include the subsea infrastructure at Janice and James comprising of 9 production wells and 4 water inject wells, infrastructure at James comprising of 2 production wells and the pipelines for export of hydrocarbons, James flowline and Affleck pipeline.
