FLOOD RISK MANAGEMENT IN SCOTLAND: 2018 CONSULTATION ON POTENTIALLY VULNERABLE AREAS
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) is helping Scotland prepare more powerfully for flooding. Identifying Potentially Vulnerable Areas (PVAs) is a vital part of ongoing work aimed towards protecting people, properties, businesses, communities, infrastructure and the environment from the impacts of flooding.
PVAs are identified as part of the National Flood Risk Assessment (NFRA) process, and help Scotland to understand and prioritise where work could be of most benefit, using a risk based approach. Working with our partners we have used the best currently available data to understand the causes and consequences of flooding to inform the 2018 NFRA.
“Flood Risk Management in Scotland - 2018 Consultation on Potentially Vulnerable Areas” seeks views on how the NFRA identifies PVAs for Flood Risk Management planning. Responses will help identify areas in Scotland which are at the greatest risk from the impacts of flooding now and in the future.
The consultation is available on the SEPA website at https://consultation.sepa.org.uk/evidence-and-flooding/pvas2018. It will open on Tuesday 1 May 2018 and will close on Tuesday 31 July 2018.
The preferred route for responses is through the online facility, or in writing to:
SEPA, FRM Planning, Silvan House, 3rd Floor, 231 Corstorphine Road, Edinburgh, EH12 7AT.
Hard copies of the documents and questions will be available to view in selected SEPA offices. Specific sections may be translated by SEPA on request if required. For further information contact FloodActConsultation@sepa.org.uk or call our contact centre on 03000 99 66 99.
