SEVERN TRENT WATER LIMITED

NOTICE OF A DROUGHT PERMIT

FOREMARK AND STAUNTON HAROLD RESERVOIRS

TAKE NOTICE that on 8th March 2019 the Environment Agency granted a Drought Permit to Severn Trent Water Limited (“the Company”) following the Company’s application on 27th February 2019 under Section 79A of the Water Resources Act 1991.

The Company is entitled to abstract water from Staunton Harold Reservoir in Derbyshire and Foremark Reservoir in Derbyshire for supply to customers under abstraction agreement serial numbers 03/28/36/0147, 03/28/36/0148 and 03/28/35/0005 (‘’the Abstraction Agreements’’). The Abstraction Agreements permit the Company to abstract a maximum aggregate quantity of water from Foremark Reservoir and Staunton Harold Reservoir of 73,200,000 cubic metres per year from 1st April 2018 to 31st March 2019.

The Drought Permit amends the Abstraction Agreements to allow the Company increase its annual aggregate abstraction limit to 77,200,000 cubic metres (an increase of 4,000,000 cubic metres) in the year beginning 1st April 2018 and ending 31st March 2019. All other conditions in the Abstraction Licences remain unchanged, including conditions requiring the Company to release a volume of water from the reservoirs to support downstream watercourses.

The Drought Permit commenced on 8th March 2019 and expires on 31st March 2019 and will allow the Company to reduce its use of other reservoirs and so will be an aid to their refill of those reservoirs, to help secure supplies for customers. The Company, in consultation with the Environment Agency, has carried out an assessment of the potential environmental impacts of the Permit.
