ENFORCEMENT OF MOVING TRAFFIC CONTRAVENTIONS

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, in accordance with section 3 of the London Local Authorities and Transport for London Act 2003, that the Council of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has resolved to exercise the powers conferred by that Act to issue penalty charge notices for contraventions of traffic management orders which impose restrictions or prohibitions on the movement of vehicles or certain classes of vehicle within the Borough.

2. The Council’s powers will replace the powers of the Metropolitan Police to take action against drivers contravening those orders.

3. In general, the traffic management orders referred to above are those which require vehicles to proceed in particular directions at specified points, prohibit them from making certain movements or entering defined areas or restrict the movements of certain classes of vehicle. All such requirements, restrictions or prohibitions are indicated by the relevant traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs and General Directions 2016.

4. The Council intends to commence the operation of these powers with effect from 1 April 2020.
