EXPERIMENTAL 20 MPH SPEED LIMIT STREETS
THE EALING (20MPH SPEED LIMIT) (NO. 1) EXPERIMENTAL TRAFFIC ORDER 2020
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the London Borough of Ealing, on the 25th February 2020 made the above-mentioned Order under section 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
2. The general effect of the Order will be to introduce a 20mph speed limit in streets within those areas of Northolt and Greenford that lie west of Greenford Road and north of Western Avenue and which are not currently subject to a 20mph speed limit. The affected streets are specified in the Schedule to this Notice.
3. Further information may be obtained by e-mail to trafficnotices@ealing.gov.uk or by telephoning the Ealing Council Project engineer on telephone number 020 8825 9576.
4. The Order, which will come into force on the 4th March 2020, and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order including a plan are available by e-mail from trafficnotices@ealing.gov.uk or by inspection at Customer Services Reception, Perceval House, 14-16 Uxbridge Road W5 2HL between 9:00am and 4:45pm on Monday to Friday, until such time as the Order ceases to have effect.
5. The Order provides that, subject to the provisions of section 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Council’s Head of Highways for the time being, or some person authorised in that behalf by him, may, if it appears to him or that person essential: -
(a) in the interest of the expeditious, convenient and safe movement of traffic;
(b) in the interest of providing suitable and adequate parking facilities on the highway; or
(c) for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which any road affected by the Order runs,
modify or suspend the Order or provisions contained therein.
6. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any relevant requirements thereof or any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks from the date on which the Order is made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.
7. If the provisions of the Order continue in force for a period of not less than 6 months, the Council will consider in due course whether the provisions of the Order should be reproduced and continued in force indefinitely by means of an Order made under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. Anyone who wishes to object to the making of an Order under the said section of the said Act of 1984 for the purpose of such reproduction and continuation in force may, between the 4th March 2020 and the 3rd September 2020, send a statement in writing of their objection and grounds thereof to trafficnotices@ealing.gov.uk or by post to the Highways Service, Perceval House, 14-16 Uxbridge Road W5 2HL, quoting reference ORD 4221/djc
