TRANSPORT AND WORKS ACT 1992
The Secretary of State for Transport gives notice under section 14(1)(b), (2A) (3A) and (3AA) of the Transport and Works Act 1992 (“the Act”) that he has determined under section 13(1) of the Act to make with modifications the Network Rail (Cambridgeshire Level Crossing Reduction) Order (“the Order”).
The Order was applied for by Network Rail Infrastructure Limited (“NR”) of 1 Eversholt Street, London NW1 2DN. It will confer on NR the necessary powers to carry out works including the removal of 16 public and private level crossings and the diverion or re-designation of the status of certain public roads, footpaths, bridleways, restricted byways open to all traffic, private rights of way and the creation of new public and/or private rights of way. The Order would also authorise the construction of footridges and a bridleway bridge to carry out out new public a private rights of way over drains or watercourses. It would also permit NR to acquire land and interests in land in connection with the construction of the scheduled and authorised works to be authorised by the Order. The Secretary of State has, pursuant to section 14(1)(a) of the Act, given notice of his determination by way of a decision letter dated 29 October 2020, a copy which may be obtained by emailing transportinfrastructure@dft.gov.uk That letter gives the reasons for the determination and the considerations upon which it is based; information about the public participation process; and information regarding the right to challenge the validity of the determination and the procedures for doing so.
