TRANSPORT AND WORKS (APPLICATIONS AND OBJECTIONS PROCEDURE) (ENGLAND AND WALES) RULES 2006

THE NETWORK RAIL (CAMBRIDGE SOUTH INFRASTRUCTURE ENHANCEMENTS) ORDER 202[X]

NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR AN ORDER

Network Rail Infrastructure Limited ("Network Rail") of 1 Eversholt Street London NW1 2DN has applied to the Secretary of State for Transport under section 6 of the Transport and Works Act 1992 for the above-mentioned order under section 1 and 5 of that Act.

The draft order makes provision for the following:

1 Seeks deemed planning permission for works summarised as follows:

a. New railway station with four platform faces including forecourts, access paths and limited vehicle parking, new interchange for taxi and pick up/drop off points, and cycle parking spaces together with associated works. The new station will be located between the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and Hobson's Park and bordered to the north by the Cambridge Guided Busway;

b. Introduction of 2 additional loop lines on West Anglian Main Line in the area of the new station;

c. Track replacement/modification/additional loop line to the West Anglia Main Line;

d. New Overhead Line Equipment and improvement works at Shepreth Junction and replacement of the GSMR mast;

e. New permanent rail systems compound and associated works to the south-west of Addenbrooke’s Road (Nine Wells Bridge); and

f. Attenuation ponds and drainage works;

together with such powers and authorisations are required to operate, carry out and facilitate the works;

2 The compulsory acquisition of land, new rights and temporary possession of land to facilitate the construction and maintenance of the works;

3 Closure of Dukes No.2 Level Crossing and Webster’s Level Crossing over the West Anglia Main Line at Shelford and extinguishment and diversion of the existing private access over the crossing together with provision of alternative access measures;

4 Acquisition of replacement land for exchange open space land; and

5 Powers to carry out works to streets including the temporary diversion of streets.

The application is made subject to an environmental impact assessment. The application contains a statement that a direction for deemed planning permission is being applied for.

An copy of the application, and of all plans and other documents submitted with it, may be inspected free of charge between the hours of 09:30 and 18:00 on Mondays and Fridays, 12 noon and 18:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 09:30 and 19:00 on Wednesdays, 10:00 and 18:00 on Saturdays and 12noon and 16:00 on Sundays at Cambridge Central Library, 7 Lion Yard, Cambridge CB2 3QD and are available to view and download online at: https://www.networkrail.co.uk/running-the-railway/our-routes/anglia/improving-the-railway-in-anglia/cambridge-south-station/ until 2 August 2021.

Any objections to, or other representations about, the proposals in the application should be sent to the Secretary of State for Transport c/o Transport Infrastructure Planning Unit, Department for Transport, Great Minister House, 33 Horseferry Road, London SW1P 4DR (or e-mail: transportinfrastructure@dft.gov.uk). An objection or other representation MUST:

(i) be received by the Secretary of State on or before 2 August 2021;

(ii) be made in writing (whether sent by post or e-mail and please state "Network Rail (Cambridge South Infrastructure Enhancements) Order" in the subject of the correspondence);

(iii) state the grounds of the objection or other representation;

(iv) indicate who is making the objection or other representation; and

(v) give an address to which correspondence relating to the objection or other representation may be sent (if you are sending your objection or other representation by e-mail please provide a postal address).

The Secretary of State may make complete copies of the objections and other representations public, including any personal information contained in them, and will copy them to the applicant for the order.
