The Department of Health has made a Statutory Rule entitled "The Health Protection (Coronavirus, International Travel) (2021 Consolidation) (Amendment No. 12) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2021", (S.R. 2021 No. 340) which came into operation at 4.00 am on 15 December 2021.

This rule amends the Health Protection (Coronavirus, International Travel) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2021 by removing Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe from Schedule 1 (Red list countries), thereby leaving no countries on the red list; and amends Schedule 8 (Prohibition on arrival of aircraft and vessels) by removing Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe so that aircraft from those countries are no longer prohibited from arriving in Northern Ireland.
