DULWICH STREETSPACE: TIMED BUS, CYCLE AND TAXI ONLY ROUTES

THE LONDON BOROUGH OF SOUTHWARK (PRESCRIBED ROUTES) (BURBAGE ROAD, DULWICH VILLAGE, TOWNLEY ROAD AND TURNEY ROAD) (NO. 1) TRAFFIC ORDER 2022

1. Southwark Council hereby GIVES NOTICE that on 10 February 2022 it has made the above Order under sections 6 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended (‘the 1984 Act’).

2. The effect of the Order is, on a permanent basis, to provide routes for buses, pedal cycles and taxis only, which would operate between the hours of 8 am and 9 am and between 3 pm and 4.30 pm on Monday to Friday at the following locations:-

(a) BURBAGE ROAD, north-west of its junction with Turney Road, applicable to north-westbound traffic;

(b) TURNEY ROAD, north-east of its junction with Burbage Road, applicable to north-eastbound traffic;

(c) BURBAGE ROAD, at its junction with College Road, Dulwich Village and Gallery Road, applicable to traffic approaching from any of those roads;

(d) DULWICH VILLAGE, at its junction with Burbage Road, College Road and Gallery Road, applicable to traffic approaching from any of those roads; and

(e) TOWNLEY ROAD, at its junction with Calton Avenue, applicable to north-westbound traffic.

NOTES: (1) This Order supersedes similar provisions at the above locations implemented by way of experimental Orders made under section 9 of the 1984 Act (which are revoked); (2) Exemption to the restrictions described in (a)-(e) preceding would be provided for emergency services vehicles, refuse collection vehicles, and (on a discretionary basis) disabled persons vehicles (registered to Southwark resident ‘blue badge’ holders), rapid response healthcare workers vehicles and SEND vehicles.

3. Copies of the order, which will come into force on 17 February 2022, and of all other relevant documents are available for inspection at Highways, Southwark Council, Environment and Leisure, 3rd floor hub 2, 160 Tooley Street, London SE1 2QH, by appointment only. 4. Any person desiring to question the validity of the order or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the order may, within six weeks of the date on which the order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
