CROYDON COUNCIL
HIGHWAYS ACT, 1980 - SECTION 65
MANDATORY CYCLE LANES
BRIGHTON ROAD, PURLEY & SOUTH CROYDON
Croydon Council HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to promote cycling and improve cycling facilities, it has introduced mandatory cycle lanes in Brighton Road, using powers under the Highways Act 1980, as part of an experimental scheme.
The northbound and southbound cycle lanes are segregated facilities provided on the carriageway in Brighton Road between the common boundary of Nos. 42 and 42a Brighton Road South Croydon and its south-westernmost junction with High Street, Purley.
Signs and road markings have been used to mark the start and finish of the cycle lanes. At certain points the cycle lanes have been omitted to accommodate bus stops, vehicular access into properties and across key junctions. At these points the carriageway is marked with cycle logos advising motorists of the presence of cyclists.
A plan showing the scheme can be inspected from 9am and 4pm on Mondays to Fridays inclusive, by appointment with the Parking Design Team at Bernard Weatherill House, 8 Mint Walk, Croydon, CR0 1EA (telephone 020 8726 6000 and ask for Parking Design). Alternatively, a copy of the plans can be requested by email to the Parking Design Team (parking.design@croydon.gov.uk) or viewed on our website at www.croydon.gov.uk/brightonroadcorridor. Further information may be obtained by telephoning the Strategic Transport Team, on the above number.
