NOTICE OF INTENTION TO APPLY TO STOP UP THE HIGHWAY ADJOINING 211 SOUTH COAST ROAD, PEACEHAVEN

NOTICE is given that East Sussex County Council as Highway Authority for the County of East Sussex intends to apply to Brighton Magistrates' Court sitting at The Law Courts Edward Street Brighton BN2 0LG on 24 November 2023 at 2pm for an Order under section 116 of the Highways Act 1980 authorising the stopping up of an area of the highway being an area of land adjacent to 211 South Coast Road, Peacehaven on the ground that the highway is unnecessary. The effect of the Order will be to extinguish all public rights of way over the said land.

A copy of the draft Order and Plan may be inspected free of charge at the Council Offices at County Hall, Lewes, East Sussex, BN7 1UE between the hours of 8.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Thursdays and 8.00am - 4.30pm on Fridays (excluding bank holidays and public holidays) from 26 October 2023 to 23 November 2023.

Any person to whom this Notice has been given or who uses the highway specified or who would be aggrieved by the making of the Order may appear before the Magistrates' Court to raise an objection or make a representation on the application. Any person intending to appear before the Magistrates' Court at the hearing of the application is requested to inform Gareth Jones at Gareth.Jones@eastsussex.gov.uk and Legal Services, Governance Services, County Hall, Lewes BN7 1UE before the 24th of November 2023 quoting reference 111567.
