THE HIGHWAYS ACT 1980

1. Notice is hereby given that The Kent County Council has made on 22 November 2023 THE KENT COUNTY COUNCIL (A28 STURRY LINK ROAD) (SIDE ROADS) ORDER 2023 under Sections 14 and 125 of the Highways Act 1980. It is about to submit this order to the Secretary of State for Transport for confirmation and if confirmed, the order will authorise Kent County Council to:

(a) improve highways, including raising, lowering, or otherwise altering;

(b) stop up private means of access to premises: and

(c) provide new means of access to said premises.

all on or in the vicinity of the route of the classified road known as A28 Sturry Link Road which the Council are proposing to construct between A28 Sturry Road, 100 metres east of Water Treatment Works and the north side of the Ashford to Ramsgate railway line 395 metres east of Broad Oak railway level crossing.

2. A copy of the order and the map referred to can be seen from 30 November 2023 between 9:00 and 16:00 at Kent County Council Main Reception, Sessions House, County Hall, Maidstone, Kent, ME14 1XQ, between 10:00 and 14:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at Canterbury City Council, Military Road, Canterbury, Kent CT1 1YW, and between 10:00 and 15:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday and Fridays at Sturry Parish Council, 38 High Street, Sturry, Canterbury CT2 0BD.

3. Any objections to the order must be made in writing to the Secretary of State, National Transport Casework Team, Tyneside House, Skinnerburn Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE4 7AR or by email to nationalcasework@dft.gov.uk before 19 January 2024 and should state the title of the order, the grounds of objection and the objector's address and interest in the land. In submitting an objection it should be noted that your personal data and correspondence will be passed by the Secretary of State to the County Council to enable your objection to be considered. Where the Order becomes the subject of Public Inquiry Procedures, all correspondence is copied to the Inspector conducting the Inquiry and will be kept in the Public Inquiry library, where it is publicly available. If you do not wish your personal data to be forwarded, please state your reasons when submitting your objection and the Secretary of State will copy your representations, with your name and address removed, to the Council and if there is to be a Public Local Inquiry they will be seen by the Inspector who may give them less weight as a result.
