HIGHWAYS ACT 1980

THE NORTH SOMERSET COUNCIL (BANWELL BYPASS AND SOUTHERN LINK CLASSIFIED ROAD) (SIDE ROADS) ORDER 2022

The Secretary of State for Transport hereby gives notice that on 29 January 2024 he has confirmed, with modifications, the above Order which was made by North Somerset Council under sections 14 and 125 of the Highways Act 1980 and which, as confirmed, authorises the Council to –

(a) improve highways;

(b) stop up highways;

(c) construct new highways;

(d) stop up private means of access to premises; and

(e) provide new means of access to premises,

all on or in the vicinity of the route of the classified road known as the “Banwell Bypass” which the Council propose to construct from a point 245 metres east of the junction between the A371 Knightcott Road and Summer Lane to a point 209 metres west of the junction between the A368 Towerhead Road and Catworthy Lane and the classified road known as the “Southern Link” which the Council propose to construct from a point 93 metres north of the entrance to Banwell Castle to a point 53 metres west of the entrance to the Police House onto the A368 East Street and from a point 60 metres east of the entrance to the Police House to a point 164 metres north-east of the entrance to the Police House where it meets the Banwell Bypass.

1. Weston-super-Mare Library, North Somerset Council, Town Hall, Walliscote Grove Road, Weston-super-Mare BS23 1UJ: Monday to Friday 9.30am-6pm and Saturday 9.30am-4pm;

2. Campus Library, Highlands Lane, Weston-super-Mare BS24 7DX: Monday to Friday 9.30am-8pm, Saturday 9.30am-5pm and Sunday 10am-5pm;

3. Banwell Parish Council Office, Banwell Youth & Community Centre, West Street, Banwell, North Somerset BS29 6BD: Tuesdays and Thursdays 10am-12noon

and can also be viewed online at http://banwellbypasscpo.co.uk.

Any person aggrieved by or desiring to question the validity of any provision within the Order on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the above Act or that any requirement or regulation made has not been complied with, may, within 6 weeks of ????????, apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order or of any provision included.
