The Department for Communities has made a Statutory Rule (SR 2024 No. 140) entitled "The Local Government (Remote Meetings) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2024".

The Rule provides councils with the flexibility to hold council meetings by remote or hybrid means. The Rule was made on 25 June 2024 after an Assembly debate on the rule where it was approved on 24 June 2024 through the draft affirmative process.
