BY THE KING A PROCLAMATION ALTERING THE PROCLAMATIONS OF THE NINTH DAY OF NOVEMBER 2022, THE FOURTEENTH DAY OF DECEMBER 2022 AND THE TWENTY-FIRST DAY OF FEBRUARY 2024 TO DETERMINE A NEW STANDARD WEIGHT FOR TEN POUND GOLD COINS; AND A NEW STANDARD WEIGHT AND REMEDY FOR ONE POUND SILVER COINS CHARLES R.

Whereas under section 3(1)(c), (cc), and (h) of the Coinage Act 1971 We have power, with the advice of Our Privy Council, by Proclamation to determine the weight and fineness of certain gold coins, the remedy to be allowed in the making of such coins and their least current weight, and to determine the weight and composition of coins other than gold coins or coins of silver of Our Maundy money, and the remedy to be allowed in the making of such coins, and to alter any Proclamation previously made under the said section:

And Whereas by Our Proclamations dated the ninth day of November 2022, the fourteenth day of December 2022 and the twenty-first day of February 2024 We determined, among other matters, the standard weight of certain ten pound gold coins, and the standard weight and remedy to be allowed in the making of certain one pound silver coins:

And Whereas it appears to Us desirable to determine a new standard weight for the said ten pound gold coins and a new standard weight and remedy for the said one pound silver coins:

We, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 3(1)(c), (cc) and (h), and of all other powers enabling Us in that behalf, do hereby, by and with the advice of Our Privy Council, proclaim, direct and ordain as follows:

1. In paragraph 4(1) of Our said Proclamation of the ninth day of November 2022 determining the specifications and design for a new series of ten pound gold coins, for “being a coin of a standard weight of 3.13 grammes” there shall be substituted “being a coin of a standard weight of 3.135 grammes”.

2. In paragraph 4(1) of Our said Proclamation of the fourteenth day of December 2022 determining the specifications and designs for a new series of ten pound gold coins, for “being a coin of a standard weight of 3.13 grammes” there shall be substituted “being a coin of a standard weight of 3.135 grammes”.

3. In paragraph 4(1) of Our said Proclamation of the twenty-first day of February 2024 determining the specifications and design for a new series of one pound silver coins, for “being a coin of a standard weight of 15.64 grammes” there shall be substituted “being a coin of a standard weight of 15.66 grammes”.

4. In paragraph 4(2)(a) of Our said Proclamation of the twenty-first day of February 2024 determining the specifications and design for a new series of one pound silver coins, for “a variation from the said standard weight of an amount per coin of 0.096 grammes;” there shall be substituted “a variation from the said standard weight of an amount per coin of 0.125 grammes;”.

5. This Proclamation shall come into force on the eleventh day of July Two Thousand and twenty-four.

Given at Our Court at Buckingham Palace, this tenth day of July in the year of Our Lord Two thousand and twenty-four and in the second year of Our Reign.
