The Department for the Economy has made a Statutory Rule entitled “The Working Time (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2024” (S.R. 2024 No. 153). The Regulations were laid in draft and approved by the Northern Ireland Assembly on 25th June 2024, coming into operation on 26th June 2024.

These Regulations amend the Working Time Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016 to include express provision about the rights of workers, in certain circumstances, to carry forward annual leave into subsequent leave years and the calculation of holiday pay in relation to those rights. This Rule restates in domestic law the leave provisions under paternity, shared parental, adoption and parental bereavement leave entitlements.
