SECTION 116 AND SCHEDULE 12 OF THE HIGHWAYS ACT 1980
NOTICE OF INTENTION TO APPLY TO STOP UP THE HIGHWAY AT GLEMSFORD
Notice is given that Suffolk County Council as Highway Authority for the County of Suffolk intends to apply to Ipswich Magistrates’ Court sitting at Elm Street, Ipswich IP1 2AP on 17/03/2025 at 10am for an order under section 116 of the Highways Act 1980 authorising the stopping up of an area of the highway being a small end of section of Cutts Lane (U7339 unclassified road) adjacent to Sluice Cottage, Glemsford with the retention of public footpath rights over a strip 1.5 metres wide at Glemsford on the ground that the highway is unnecessary. The effect of the order will be to extinguish all public rights of way over the said land save that public footpath rights shall be retained over the 1.5 metre strip referred to above.
A copy of the draft order and plan may be inspected free of charge at the Council Offices at Suffolk County Council, Endeavour House, 8 Russell Road, Ipswich IP1 2BX between the hours of 9am - 5pm Monday to Fridays (excluding bank holidays and public holidays) from 07/02/2025 to 06/03/2025.
Any person to whom this notice has been given or who uses the highway specified or who would be aggrieved by the making of the order may appear before the Magistrates’ Court to raise an objection or make a representation on the application. Any person intending to appear before the Magistrates' Court at the hearing of the application is requested to inform Aishah Siddika at Suffolk County Council, Legal Services, Endeavour House, 8 Russell Road, Ipswich IP1 2BX, before 08/03/2025 quoting reference 80205/Legal.
