NOTICE OF APPLICATIONS FOR CONSENT IN PURSUANCE OF SECTION 34

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Section 36(1)(a) of the Control of Pollution Act 1974, that the following applications for consent to discharge have been made to SEPA by Scottish Water:

a)	Screened storm sewage consisting of all flows in excess of the pass forward flow of 5 litres per second up to a maximum flow of 84 litres per second from a combined sewer overflow at a new sewage pumping station opposite 40-41 Marine Parade, Millport, to the Firth of Clyde at Kames Bay, Isle of Cumbrae, at NGR NS 1712 5462.
b)	Screened sewage up to a maximum flow of 84 litres per second from an emergency overflow at a new sewage pumping station opposite 40-41 Marine Parade, Millport, to the Firth of Clyde at Kames Bay at NGR NS 1712 5462.*

a)	Screened storm sewage consisting of all flows in excess of the pass forward flow of 33 litres per second up to a maximum flow of 255 litres per second from a combined sewer overflow at a new sewage pumping station at recreational land south of junction between Kelburn Street and Kames Bay, Millport, to the Firth of Clyde at Kames Bay at NGR NS 1694 5497.
b)	Screened sewage up to a maximum flow of 255 litres per second from an emergency overflow at a new sewage pumping station at recreational land south of junction between Kelburn Street and Kames Bay, Millport, to the Firth of Clyde at Kames Bay at NGR NS 1694 5497.*

a)	Screened storm sewage consisting of all flows in excess of the pass forward flow of 49 litres per second up to a maximum flow of 265 litres per second from a combined sewer overflow at a new sewage pumping station at recreational land opposite 28-37 Glasgow Street, Millport, to the Firth of Clyde at Kames Bay at NGR NS 1671 5490.
b)	Screened sewage up to a maximum flow of 265 litres per second from an emergency overflow at a new sewage pumping station at recreational land opposite 28-37 Glasgow Street, Millport, to the Firth of Clyde at Kames Bay at NGR NS 1671 5490. *

a)	Screened storm sewage consisting of all flows in excess of the pass forward flow of 62 litres per second up to a maximum flow of 151 litres per second from a combined sewer overflow at a new sewage pumping station at playground opposite 12 & 13 West Bay Road, Millport to the Firth of Clyde at Millport Bay at NGR NS 1577 5446.
b)	Screened sewage up to a maximum flow of 151 litres per second from an emergency overflow at a new sewage pumping station at playground opposite 12 & 13 West Bay Road, Millport, to the Firth of Clyde at Millport Bay at NGR NS 1577 5446. *

Up to 5.2 cubic metres per day of sewage from an emergency overflow at a new sewage pumping station situated by the Quayhead Hotel, Clyde Street, Millport, to the Firth of Clyde at Millport Bay at NGR NS 1606 5468. *

a)	Up to 5357 cubic metres per day of treated sewage effluent from a new sewage treatment works at West Bay Road, Millport, to the Firth of Clyde at NGR NS 1472 5493.
b)	Up to 5357 cubic metres per day of treated sewage effluent from an emergency overflow at a final effluent pumping station at a new sewage treatment works at West Bay Road, Millport, to the Firth of Clyde at NGR NS 1506 5388.

* It should be noted that these proposed discharges of sewage are emergency overflows and will occur only in the event of power failure or breakdown of the sewage pumping station.

Any person who wishes to make representations about any of these applications should do so in writing to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, 5 Redwood Crescent, Peel Park, East Kilbride, Glasgow G74 5PP, not later than 6th May 2003, quoting the appropriate reference number.

Copies of the applications may be inspected free of charge at the above address, at SEPA District Office, 31 Miller Road, Ayr, and at North Ayrshire Council Offices, 49 Stuart Street, Millport, Isle of Cumbrae, at all reasonable hours.
