NOTICE OF APPLICATIONS FOR CONSENT IN PURSUANCE OF SECTION 34

Notice is hereby given, in accordance, with Section 36(1)(a) of the Control of Pollution Act 1974, that the following applications have been made to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency by Scottish Coal Company Ltd, for consent to discharge trade effluent from Gasswater Opencast Coal Site, Powharnal Extension, Near Cronberry, Cumnock, Ayrshire:


Ref: WPC/W/30940

Up to 6480 cubic metres/day of treated trade effluent to an unnamed tributary of the River Ayr at NGR NS 653 260.


Ref: WPC/W/30941

Up to 12960 cubic metres/day of treated trade effluent to the River Ayr at NGR NS 663 260.


Ref: WPC/W/30942

Up to 302 cubic metres/day of treated trade effluent to the Gass Water at NGR NS 627 244.


Any person who wishes to make representations about any of these applications should do so in writing to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, 5 Redwood Crescent, Peel Park, East Kilbride, Glasgow G74 5PP, not later than 17th June 2003, quoting the appropriate reference number.

Copies of the applications may be inspected free of charge at the above address, and at SEPA District Office, 31 Miller Road, Ayr, at all reasonable hours.
