NOTICE OF APPLICATIONS FOR CONSENT IN PURSUANCE OF SECTION 34

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Section 36(1)(a) of the Control of Pollution Act 1974, that the following applications for consent have been made to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency by Scottish Water:-

Ref WPC/W/71224 - Tarbert Waste Water Treatment Works, Tarbert, Argyll

Primary treated sewage effluent up to a maximum discharge volume of 2592 cubic metres per day, to Loch Fyne at National Grid Reference NR 8787 7084, from a proposed waste water treatment works at West Barfad, Tarbert, Argyll.

Ref WPC/W/71225. Transfer Pumping Station 1, Harbour Street, Tarbert, Argyll

a) Screened sewage effluent consisting of all flows in excess of the pass forward rate of 30 litres per second, to East Loch Tarbert at National Grid Reference NR 8658 6872, from a storm overflow at a proposed pumping station, Harbour Street, Tarbert, Argyll.
b) Screened sewage effluent to East Loch Tarbert at National Grid Reference NR 8658 6872 from an emergency overflow at a proposed pumping station, Harbour Street, Tarbert, Argyll.

Ref WPC/W/71226 - Satellite Pumping Station 1, Pier Road, Tarbert, Argyll

a) Screened sewage effluent consisting of all flows in excess of the pass forward rate of 21 litres per second, to Loch Fyne at National Grid Reference NR 8758 6878, from a storm overflow at a proposed pumping station, Pier Road, Tarbert, Argyll.
b) Screened sewage effluent to Loch Fyne at National Grid Reference NR 8758 6878 from an emergency overflow at a proposed pumping station, Pier Road, Tarbert, Argyll.

Ref WPC/W/71228 - Satellite Pumping Station 2, Garvel Road, Tarbert, Argyll

a) Screened sewage effluent consisting of all flows in excess of the pass forward rate of 12 litres per second, to East Loch Tarbert at National Grid Reference NR 8683 6918, from a storm overflow at a proposed pumping station, Garvel Road, Tarbert, Argyll.
b) Screened sewage effluent to East Loch Tarbert at National Grid Reference NR 8683 6918 from an emergency overflow at a proposed pumping station, Garvel Road, Tarbert, Argyll.

The following points should be noted in relation to the above applications:-

1. The sewerage system will be designed to ensure that a discharge of sewage effluent from any emergency overflow will occur only in the event of an electrical power failure, rising main failure or blockage of the downstream sewer and only after the storage capacity in the sewerage system has been exhausted.
2. The sewerage system will be designed to limit the occurrence of a discharge of storm sewage effluent from any combined sewer overflow to storm events and only after the storage capacity provided in the sewerage system has been exhausted.

Any person who wishes to make representations about these applications should do so in writing to The Registrar, Scottish Environment Protection Agency, 5 Redwood Crescent, Peel Park, East Kilbride, G74 5PP, not later than 4th May 2004, quoting the relevant reference number.

Copies of the applications may be inspected free of charge at the above offices of the Agency at all reasonable hours and by prior arrangement with the Argyll Office at 2 Smithy Lane, Lochgilphead [Tel No: 01546 602876]. In addition, copies will be available at Tarbert Post Office.
