NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR CONSENT iN PURSUANCE OF SECTION 34

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Section 36(1)(a) of the Control of Pollution Act 1974 (As Amended), that the following applications for consent to discharge have been made to SEPA by Scottish Water:

Ref No: WPC/W/71903:

Up to 1624.32 cubic metres per day of treated sewage effluent from an new sewage treatment works at Whiting Bay, Isle of Arran to Whiting Bay at National Grid Reference NS 0519 2468.

Ref No: WPC/W/71929:

Up to 760.32 cubic metres per day of storm sewage from a combined sewer overflow at Whiting Bay Pumping Station Number 1, Whiting Bay, Isle of Arran to Whiting Bay at National Grid Reference NS 050 272.

Up to 1330.56 cubic metres of sewage from an emergency overflow at Whiting Bay Pumping Station Number 1, Whiting Bay, Isle of Arran to Whiting Bay at National Grid Reference NS 050 272. *

Ref No: WPC/W/71930:

Up to 6022.08 cubic metres per day of storm sewage from a combined sewer overflow at Whiting Bay Pumping Station Number 2, Whiting Bay, Isle of Arran to Whiting Bay at National Grid Reference NS 048 253.

Up to 7646.4 cubic metres of sewage from an emergency overflow at Whiting Bay Pumping Station Number 2, Whiting Bay, Isle of Arran to Whiting Bay at National Grid Reference NS 048 253.*

* It should be noted that these proposed discharges of sewage are emergency discharges and will only occur in the event of power failure or breakdown of the sewage pumping station.

Any person who wishes to make representations about any of the applications should do so in writing to The Registrar, SEPA, 5 Redwood Crescent, Peel Park, East Kilbride, G74 5PP not later than 30th November 2004, quoting the appropriate reference number.

Copies of the applications may be inspected free of charge at SEPA at the above address and at North Ayrshire Council, Shore Road, Lamlash, Isle of Arran during normal business hours, and by prior arrangement at the local SEPA office at 31 Miller Road, Ayr (Tel. 01292 294000).
