CONTROL OF POLLUTION ACT 1974, SECTION 36(1)(A)

NOTICE OF APPLICATIONS FOR CONSENT IN PURSUANCE OF SECTION 34

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Section 36(1)(a) of the Control of Pollution Act 1974 (As Amended), that the following applications for consent to discharge have been made to SEPA by Scottish Water:

Ref No: WPC/W/71964

Up to 1,050.7 cubic metres per day of treated sewage effluent from a new sewage treatment works at Ballantrae to Ballantrae Bay at National Grid Reference NX 081 835.

Ref No: WPC/W/71951

Up to 7,905.6 cubic metres per day of storm sewage from a combined sewer overflow at Ballantrae Pumping Station, Ballantrae, to Ballantrae Bay at National Grid Reference NX 080 830.

Up to 8,956.3 cubic metres of sewage from an emergency overflow at Ballantrae Pumping Station, Ballantrae, to Ballentrae Bay at National Grid Reference NX 080 830. It should be noted that this proposed discharge of sewage is an emergency discharge and will only occur in the event of power failure or breakdown of the sewage pumping station.

Any person who wishes to make representations about either of these applications should do so in writing to the Registrar, SEPA, 5 Redwood Crescent, Peel Park, East Kilbride G74 5PP, not later than 25 February 2005, quoting the reference number.

Copies of the applications may be inspected free of charge, at the above address at all reasonable hours and by prior arrangement at the District Office, 31 Miller Road, Ayr KA7 2AX (Tel: 01292 294000). The applications may also be inspected at Ballantrae Library, The Hall, Main Street, Ballantrae (Tel 01465 831521).
