The A205 Trunk Road (Lewisham) Red Route Experimental Traffic Order 1997 Variation Order 1997

  1. The Traffic Director for London, following a direction given to him by the Secretary of State under section 58(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1991 to implement a Trunk Road Local Plan, hereby gives notice that he made the above-named experimental Order under sections 9 and 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, on 29th December 1997. The Order comes into effect on 12th January 1998, and can remain in force for up to 18 months.   2. The general nature and effect of the Order is to make variations to the A205 Trunk Road (Lewisham) Red Route Experimental Traffic Order 1997, in Brownhill Road and St. Mildreds Road, in the London Borough of Lewisham. The variations are to:   (a) relocate to the east and extend the parking box on the north side of Brownhill Road in the vicinity of Nos. 249 to 271;   (b) introduce a new loading box on the south side of Brownhill Road in the vicinity of Nos. 180 and 182 and relocate to the west and extend the double red lines to cover a repositioned bus stop;   (c) relocate to the east and shorten the double red lines on the north side of Brownhill Road to cover a repositioned bus stop opposite Nos. 190 to 194;   (d) remove the double red lines on the north side of Brownhill Road where a bus stop is to be removed in the vicinity of No. 337;   (e) extend the double red lines on the south side of Brownhill Road to cover a repositioned bus stop in the vicinity of Nos. 348 and 350;   (f) remove the double red lines on the south side of St. Mildreds Road where a bus stop is to be removed in the vicinity of Nos. 86 to 92.   3. The road affected by the Order is the A205 Brownhill Road and St. Mildreds Road, in the London Borough of Lewisham.   4. While the Order is in force the Traffic Director for London, or some person authorised by him, may modify or suspend the Order or any provisions in it if it appears essential to do so for certain purposes.   5. In due course the Traffic Director for London will be considering whether or not the provisions of the Order should be continued in force indefinitely. Within the period of 6 months from the coming into force of the Order, or if the Order is subsequently varied by another Order or modified, from the coming into force of that variation or modification (whichever is the latest), any person may object to the making of an Order to continue indefinitely those provisions. Any such objection must be made in writing, giving the grounds on which it is made, and sent to the Traffic Director for London, College House, Great Peter Street, London SW1P 3LN, quoting Ref. A8.1.4.TO/383. Any objection may be communicated to other persons who may be affected.   6. A copy of the Order, a statement of the Traffic Director for London’s reasons for the proposals and for proceeding by way of experiment, a map indicating the location and effect of the Order and copies of any Order revoked, suspended or varied by the Order can be inspected during normal office hours at the offices of: The Traffic Director for London, College House, Great Peter Street, London SW1P 3LN, and Catford Library, Laurence House, 1 Catford Road, Catford SE6 4SW.   7. The documents will be available for inspection during the period within which objection can be made in accordance with paragraph 5 above.   8. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers or that any of the relevant requirements have not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within 6 weeks of the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
