Alderley Edge Conservation Area Extension (South)

Notice is hereby given that the Macclesfield Borough Council, in pursuance of its powers under section 69 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, has designated an extension to the Alderley Edge Conservation Area.   The Conservation Area Extension (South) has been designated because it is of Special Architectural or Historic Interest, the character and appearance of which it is desirable to preserve and enhance.   The boundary of the Conservation Area includes properties in Congleton Road.   The designation of an area has several formal consequences including the control of the demolition of certain buildings, a requirement for consent to development which would not otherwise need permission; the need for consent to carry out works on trees and a requirement to advertise planning applications affecting the character and appearance of the area.   A plan showing the full boundaries of the area, together with an explanatory leaflet on Conservation Areas, may be obtained from Macclesfield Borough Council, Planning Department, Town Hall, Macclesfield, Cheshire SK10 1DP.
