The Croydon (On Street Parking Places) (No. 1) Traffic Order 1998

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Croydon on 12th January 1998 made the above-mentioned Order under sections 45, 46, 49 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985 and the Road Traffic Regulation (Parking) Act 1986.   2. The general effect of the Croydon (On Street Parking Places) (No. 1) Traffic Order will be:   (a) to designate new one hour “pay and display” parking places in Beulah Hill, on the south-east side, from a point 17.80 metres south-west of the southern kerb-line of Crown Dale south-westward for a distance of 16.60 metres, at which charges may be made by the Council for the leaving of vehicles authorised by the Order.   (b) to specify that the use of parking places will be restricted to goods carrying vehicles, passenger vehicles (with 12 seats or less), motor cycles or invalid carriages only,   (c) to provide that the parking places would be in operation between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Mondays to Saturdays inclusive, except Christmas Day, Good Friday and Bank Holidays and will be controlled by means of “pay and display” parking with payment to a ticket parking meter,   (d) to provide that at the parking places situated on the highways specified the charge for leaving a vehicle varies from 10p for 15 minutes up to 40p (maximum) for one hour (maximum) with no return within two hours,   (e) to provide that the parking places may be suspended when necessary to facilitate the carrying out of certain functions such as building or street works, furniture removals, funerals, etc.   3. The prohibitions and restrictions referred to in paragraph 2 above will not apply to:   (a) anything done with the permission or at the directon of a police constable in uniform or,   (b) anything done in accordance with any restriction or requirement indicatd by traffic signs placed on a highway by or on behalf of the Metropolitan Police.   4. A copy of the Order which will come into operation on 19th January 1998, can be inspected during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive, until the end of 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made, at the Enquiry Counter, “One Stop” Facility, Taberner House, Park Lane, Croydon, Surrey.   5. Copies of the Order may be obtained from the Traffic and Highways Section of the Public Services and Works Department, Taberner House, Park Lane, Croydon, Surrey.   6. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained therein on the ground that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made thereunder have not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within 6 weeks of the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purposes to the High Court.
