Notice of application to stop-up a highway

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton, the Highway Authority for the highway hereinafter mentioned, intend to apply to the North Sefton Magistrates’ Court sitting at the Law Courts, Albert Road, Southport, on 18th February 1998, at 2 p.m., for an Order under section 116 of the Highways Act 1980, authorising the below listed highway to be stopped-up on the ground that it is unnecessary. The highway is shown hatched black on the plan deposited at the offices of the Director of Legal and Administrative Services, Town Hall, Lord Street, Southport, Merseyside PR8 1DA (Ref. GPB.) where it may be inspected, free of charge, during normal office hours:   An irregular shaped area of highway to the northern side of the Esplanade, Southport, abutting the southerly boundary of the Esplanade car park varying in width from 2.0 metres at the easterly end, 12.0 metres at its greatest width, and 6.0 metres at its north-westerly extremity, having an area of 728 square metres but retaining a 5.0 metre wide footway to the Esplanade as shown on Plan No. TSU/DC/TC.ESPL.   Any person wishing to object to the proposal or make representations about it may appear at North Sefton Magistrates’ Court on 18th February 1998.   Notice is hereby given that the Council of the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton, the Highway Authority for the highway hereinafter mentioned, intend to apply to the North Sefton Magistrates’ Court sitting at the Law Courts, Albert Road, Southport, on 18th February 1998, at 2 p.m. for an Order, under section 116 of the Highways Act 1980, authorising the below listed highway to be stopped-up on the ground that it is unnecessary. The said highway, which abuts the car park to the Blundell Arms Public House and fronts Three Tuns Lane, has an average width of 10 metres and a length of 40 metres, being approximately 400 square metres in area, as shown on Plan No. TSU/DV/TC2150-1.   Any person wishing to object to the proposal or make representations about it may appear at North Sefton Magistrates’ Court on 18th February 1998.
