NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE CITY COUNCIL
The City of Newcastle upon Tyne (Christon Road Area, Gosforth) Traffic Regulation Order 1998)

Notice is hereby given that on 15th January 1998 Newcastle City Council made an Order under sections 1, 2, 4 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Act 1984.   The effect of the Order which will come into operation on 19th January 1998 is to: (a) prohibit waiting at any time on the following lengths of road:     (i) both sides of Bath Terrace, Harley Terrace, Wolverleigh Terrace and Beaumont Terrace from their junctions with Christon Road southwards for 8 metres;     (ii) both sides of Alwinton Terrace, Bath Terrace and Harley Terrace from their junctions with Spital Terrace northwards and southwards for 5 metres;     (iii) both sides of Spital Terrace from its junction with Alwinton Terrace eastwards and westwards for 5 metres, and from its junction with Bath Terrace eastwards and westwards for 5 metres;     (iv) both sides of Spital Terrace from Harley Terrace westwards for 5 metres.   (b) prohibit driving at the junctions of Christon Road with Harley Terrace, Wolverleigh Terrace and Beaumont Terrace;   (c) revoke the existing prohibition of driving at the junctions of Church Road with Wolverleigh Terrace and Beaumont Terrace;   (d) prohibit driving past a point 10 metres south of their junctions with Christon Road on West Back Alwinton Terrace, West Back Harley Terrace, West Back Wolverleigh Terrace, West Back Beaumont Terrace and West Back Hyde Terrace;   (e) prohibit driving on West Back Beaumont Terrace past a point 20 metres south of Christon Road;   (f) prohibit driving at the junction of North Back Church Road with Hyde Terrace.   An exemption will be provided to 2(d), (e) and (f) above for vehicles displaying a valid permit, for example refuse collection vehicles.   Full details are contained in the Order which together with a map showing the restrictions and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order may be examined at the offices of: The Department of Highways and Transportation, Civic Centre, Newcastle upon Tyne, Mondays to Fridays 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Further information may be obtained by telephoning the above Department on (0191) 232 8520 ext. 6054.   If you wish to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order you may, within 6 weeks, from 15th January 1998, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
