Notice of application to vary a licence to abstract water

Take notice that Anglian Water Services Limited, of Endurance House, Chivers Way, Histon, Cambridge CB4 4ZR, is applying to the Environment Agency to vary licence serial no. 8/37/23/71 to abstract water including the following chalk boreholes in the district of Colchester of Essex:

  The variation being applied for is to authorise the additional use of the existing boreholes to augment the flow of the River Colne. Water would be for re-abstraction at East Mill to assist with the refill of Ardleigh Reservoir during periods of low river flow.   A copy of the application and any map, plans and other documents submitted with it may be inspected, free of charge, at all reaonable hours at the address given above and at Anglian Water Services, Sheepen Road, Colchester, Essex, between 23rd January 1998 and 20th February 1998.   Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so in writing to the Environment Agency, Anglian Region, Eastern Area, Cobham Road, Ipswich, Suffolk IP3 9JE, before the end of the said period.
