Removal of a “Zebra” Pedestrian Crossing in Hertford Road and the introduction of a “Pelican” Crossing in Hertford Road

Further information may be obtained by telephoning the Traffic Engineering Group, telephone number 0181-366 6565 extension 3889 or 3558.   Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Enfield has approved under section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984:   (a) the removal of the “Zebra” pedestrian crossing in Hertford Road which is situated approximately 62.5 metres south-west of the south-western kerb-line of Monmouth Road;   (b) the introduction of a “Pelican” pedestrian crossing:       (i) in the north-eastbound carriageway of Hertford Road which will be situated approximately 108 metres south-west of the south-western kerb-line of Monmouth Road. The “Pelican” crossing will be sited approximately 45.5 metres south-west of the location of the “Zebra” crossing;       (ii) in the south-westbound carriageway of Hertford Road which will be situated approximately 104 metres south-west of the south-western kerb-line of Monmouth Road. The “Pelican” crossing will be sited approximately 41.5 metres south-west of the location of the “Zebra” crossing. These crossings are staggered and are separated by a central reservation.   A plan indicating the proposals can be inspected at the Reception Desk, “B” Block, the Civic Centre, Silver Street, Enfield, Middlesex EN1 3XD, during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive.   Persons desiring to object to the proposals should send a statement in writing to that effect, and in the case of an objection stating the grounds thereof, to the Borough Engineer, the Civic Centre, Silver Street, Enfield, Middlesex EN1 3XD, quoting Ref. No. KWG/TG52/621 by 11th February 1998.   Under the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1985, many of the reports made to a Committee of the Council are open to the press and to the public. When this happens any documents used to a material extent in compiling the report are also open to inspection. This means that any letter you write to the Council in response to this notice may be available to the press and to the public, who would be entitled to take copies of it if they wish. P.
