ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
The A501 Trunk Road (Camden and Westminster) Red Route Traffic Order 1998

The Traffic Director for London, following a direction given to him by the Secretary of State under section 58(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1991 to implement a Trunk Road Local Plan, hereby gives notice as follows:
The A501 Trunk Road (Camden and Westminster) Red Route Experimental Traffic Order 1996 (“the experimental Order”) was made under section 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and came into force on 30th August 1996.
Notice of the making of the experimental Order was published on 22nd August 1996. That notice contained a statement that the Traffic Director would be considering in due course whether the provisions of the experimental Order should be continued in force indefinitely. The Traffic Director has carefully considered whether or not those provisions should be continued indefinitely and has decided that they should be so continued.
Therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and in accordance with regulation 14 of the Secretary of State’s Traffic Orders (Procedure) (England and Wales) Regulations 1990, the Traffic Director has made The A501 Trunk Road (Camden and Westminster) Red Route Traffic Order 1998 (“the permanent Order”). That Order will come into force on 30th January 1998, and the effect of that Order will be to continue in force indefinitely the provisions of the experimental Order.
The roads affected by the permanent Order are Marylebone Road and Euston Road.
A copy of the permanent Order, a map indicating the location and effect of the Order, and of a copy of the experimental Order and any other Order revoked, suspended or varied by the permanent Order can be inspected during normal office hours at the offices of The Traffic Director for London, College House, Great Peter Street, London SW1P 3LN, City of Westminster, “One Stop” Services, City Hall, 64 Victoria Street, London SW1E 1QP, and London Borough of Camden, Environment Reception Desk, Fifth Floor, Camden Town Hall, Argyle Street, London WC1H 8EQ.
Any person desiring to question the validity of the permanent Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers, or that any of the relevant requirements have not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks of the date on which that Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
D. Turner, Traffic Director for London 22nd January 1998.
