TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990
The Secretary of State for Environment, Transport and the Regions hereby gives notice that he proposes to make an Order under section 247 of the above Act, to authorise the stopping-up of the whole of Steward Street between Spital Square and the northern side of Brushfield Street, the whole of Nantes Passage, a length of Spital Square and an adjoining length of Lamb Street, a part of the northern footway of Lamb Street and length of the northern footway and a part of the adjoining carriageway of Brushfield Street, London E.1. If the Order is made, the stopping-up will be authorised only in order to enable the development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance with the planning permission granted to Foster and Partners, by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, on 11th December 1997, under Ref. TH12901/PA/97/0114. The proposed Order will provide that the stopping-up of Spital Square and the length and part of Lamb Street mut not be carried out until the Spitalfield Development Group have provided a new highway maintainable at the public expense, for which the highway authority is to be the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. The proposed Order will also require improvements to Brushfield Street by widening. Copies of the draft Order and relevant plan may be inspected at all reasonable hours during 28 days commencing on 23rd January 1998, at the offices of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, 3rd Floor, Mulberry Place, 5 Clove Crescent, London E.14, and at the offices of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, 60 Southern Grove, Mile End, London EC3 4PN, and may be obtained, free of charge, from the Government Office for London (quoting Ref. LRO 34/E5900/1/087) at the address stated below. Any person may object to the making of the proposed Order, within the period of 28 days commencing on 23rd January 1998, by notice to the Secretary of State for Transport, quoting the above reference, at the Transport Management Division, Government Office for London, 8/W19, Riverwalk House, 157-161 Millbank, London SW1P 4RR. In preparing an objection it should be borne in mind that the substance of it may be imparted to other persons who may be affected by it and that those persons may wish to communicate with the objector about it.
