PUBLIC NOTIFICATION OF AN APPLICATION MADE UNDER SECTION 6 OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION ACT 1990

Integrated Pollution Control

Notice is hereby given than Anglian Power Generators Ltd has applied to the Secretary of State for the Environment for an Integrated Pollution Control (IPC) authorisation to operate a combustion process at Kings Lynn Power Station, Willows Business Park, Saddlebow, Kings Lynn, Norfolk PE34 3RD, in the district of Kings Lynn & West Norfolk, in the county of Norfolk.   The Environment Agency has sought additional information from Anglian Power Generators Ltd in support of its application for authorisation of their proposed combustion process for the generation of electricity at Kings Lynn Power Station, Willows Business Park, Saddlebow, Kings Lynn, Norfolk PE34 3RD, in the district of Kings Lynn & West Norfolk, in the county of Norfolk.   Additional information was sought to support the view expressed in the application that the abatement technique of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) entails excessive cost. Additional environment assessment information was also sought as to the possible benefits of the use of taller chimneys to assist the dispersion of air, especially under apparent worst case conditions of high wind speed.   This additional information, with other information relating to the above IPC application for authorisation to operate the combustion process is held in registers at the following locations:   The Environment Agency, Kingfisher House, Goldhay Way, Orton Goldhay, Peterborough PE2 5ZR.   Kings Lynn & West Norfolk District Council, Kings Court, Chapel Street, Kings Lynn, Norfolk PE30 1EX.   Members of the public can inspect these registers, free of charge, at the above stated addresses during normal office hours. In addition, members of the public who wish to obtain a copy of the relevant information contained in the registers can do so upon the payment of a reasonable charge to cover the costs of copying.   Any representations to the above IPC application should be made in writing to the Environment Agency at the address below, within 28 days from the date of this public notice.   The Environment Agency, Howard House, 40-46 St. Johns Street, Bedford MK42 0DL.   Any such representations will be entered into a public register unless the person making them requests in writing that they should not be so placed. If there is such a request, the register will only include a statement that there has been a request.
