TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990

The Secretary of State for Transport hereby gives notice that he has made an Order under section 247 of the above Act entitled “The Stopping-up of Highways (County of Tyne and Wear) (No. 1) Order 1988” authorising the stopping-up of lengths of highway at Corbridge Road, Byker, in the county of Tyne and Wear, to enable the development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance with the outline planning permission granted to Leisure Services Committee per City Design by the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne, on 4th April 1998 under Ref. GRA/01/0166/97.   Copies of the Order may be obtained, free of charge, on application to the Secretary of State at the offices of the Director, Planning, Environment and Transport, Government Offices for the North East, Wellbar House, Gallowgate, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 4TD (quoting GO-NE/97/5038/35/14), and may be inspected, at all reasonable hours, at the offices of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne, Civic Centre, Barras Bridge, Newcastle upon Tyne.   Any person aggrieved by the Order, and desiring to question the validity thereof, or of any provision contained therein, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the above Act or that any requirement of that Act or of any regulation made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks of 28th January 1998, apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order or of any provision contained therein. Schedule

  The outline planning permission granted is for the erection of swimming pool, library and car parking with associated siting.
